BBC radio stations across the UK are taking on their biggest challenge yet!
They’re swapping their studios for swimming pools as they take on The Thousand Mile Challenge for BBC Children in Need 2024.
Swim teams at BBC radio stations across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will attempt to swim 24 miles each – adding up to that one thousand mile total. That’s 64,000 lengths of a 25m pool!

The teams
Each team will be made up of radio presenters who have been joined by BBC colleagues from radio, TV and online to take on the huge challenge.
They’re being cheered on by BBC Children in Need Ambassadors, four time Olympic Medallist Rebecca Adlington and British World Champion Mark Foster.
The Thousand Mile Challenge starts at 6am on Monday 4th November, finishing on Friday the 8th of November 2024. Make sure you tune in to your nearest radio station to find out how the Swim Teams are doing, listen on BBC Sounds or follow on social media.
