Tehyah’s story
When Tehyah was 3 years, she experienced a series of strokes which left her with lasting brain damage. Now 13, she is non-verbal, immobile and vulnerable to serious illness. This naturally impacts her family, including her three siblings.
Thankfully, the family has found Reuben’s Retreat, which currently supports 115 families who have children with highly complex needs. Funding from BBC Children in Need pays for Jess, a Children’s Champion, who supports Tehyah and her siblings. It gives them all somewhere to come and play, swim or take part in organised activities and simply be together in a safe place.
