The difference your fundraising makes
£5 pays for a food parcel
for a 10-year-old affected by poverty and mental health issues, ensuring access to healthy food to improve physical and emotional wellbeing.
£15 pays for a 1:1 support session
for a 10-year-old affected by domestic abuse, helping them talk through their feelings and build resilience.
£40 pays for a youth club session
for 24 children affected by poverty, supporting them to have fun, make friends and learn new skills.
Aliyana’s Story
At just 9 months old, Aliyana was diagnosed with a muscle weakness called hypotonia, which meant things like learning to crawl, stand up and walk would be much harder for her. Not long afterwards she was also diagnosed with a rare genetic condition which affects how she speaks and how much she understands.
Aliyana had hospital appointment after hospital appointment. Her parents say they felt helpless and at a loss as to how they could support their daughter until someone at the hospital told them about a BBC Children in Need-funded project, Playskill.
The family began attending Playskill’s weekly sessions. As a result, Aliyana, now a bubbly 3 year old, has developed more quickly than expected. Playskill even helped Aliyana to take her first steps and to learn Makaton, allowing her to communicate with her mum and dad. The project has also provided emotional support for the rest of the family.
