Meet the young people behind this year’s BBC Children in Need TV campaign
At BBC Children in Need, we believe that when we all come together, amazing things can happen.
To help bring this to life in this year’s campaign, we enlisted the help of youngsters from the Dwarf Sports Association UK and Haringey Shed, two BBC Children in Need funded projects, who kindly appeared in this year’s TV campaign that you can see above!
The Dwarf Sports Association UK offers sporting opportunities and a network of friendship and support for young people with restricted growth in ten regional groups across the UK. The organisation’s National Engagement & Events Officer is funded by your donations to BBC Children in Need. Their role is to organise regular national games and regional sporting events for its members and their families.
One youngster you’ll be seeing plenty of on your TV screens this autumn is, Wilf, who is supported by the charity. Find out more about him below!

What’s your favourite thing about the Dwarf Sports Association?
Playing sports and having a good time with my friends.
Haringey Shed is an inclusive theatre and performing arts company for children and young people who provide a range of activities and outreach work in North London. Funding from BBC Children in Need has provided the charity with an Artistic Director, whose role is to lead after-school and holiday activities, such as youth theatre and dance classes.
Two of the children Haringey Shed support are Nathaniel and Nathan, who happen to be two of the stars of our TV trail. Get to know a little more about superhero superfan Nathaniel and aspiring musician Nathan below!
What would your perfect day be?
My perfect day would be watching Marvel Film sand eating Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.
What was your favourite thing about your day filming with BBC Children in Need?
My favourite part was filming my scene, hanging upside down is really hard but also cool!
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I would have to choose superspeed so I can get to places really fast. Zoom here, zoom there!
Who would you most like to meet?
I would most like to meet Tom Holland because he’s my favourite Spiderman.
What is one thing you’d like people to know about you?
One cool thing about me is I love collecting superhero merch. I have loads of action figures and toys, especially of Black Panther and Spiderman.
What is one thing you’d like people to know about you?
I like listening to lots of different music because my cerebral palsy doesn’t stop me doing this.
What would you like to do or be when you grow up?
Musician or produce music.
What’s the best joke you’ve ever heard?
What did one toilet say to the other? You look a bit flushed!
What advice would you give to children who are experiencing a difficult time?
Don’t let your disability, problems or difficulties stop you doing what you want.
What’s your favourite thing about Haringey Shed?
Singing and the youth forum where I can organise events. Haringey Shed has changed my life by giving me a hobby and helping me through lockdown, keeping my spirits up.
