Handprint art
This is a fantastic art project for children that is not only easy to do at home, but can also help teach them how to stay calm when things get a little too much.
What you will need
- White paper
- Different coloured marker pens
- Different colours of non-toxic, washable paint
- Separate containers for each colour of paint
- Newspaper or a plastic sheet/tablecloth
How to do it
- Use the marker pens to draw a simple, unfinished design on each sheet of white paper. Each image should be something that can be completed with a hand print. Ideas include:
- An octopus’s head with no tentacles
- A boat with no sail
- Alternatively, a pink and green handprint on blank paper can be made into a cute watermelon slice!
- Pour a little of each paint colour into each container and lay these out on your newspaper/plastic sheet alongside all of the images to be completed.
- Invite children to finish your picture with hand prints in any colour paint they like!
- Once the pictures are dry, markers can be used to add all kinds of details.
