Fuelling Potential of 100,000 Children with ASDA

ASDA HAVE RAISED A TOTAL OF OVER £34 MILLION

ASDA and BBC Children in Need have been in partnership since 2000, and have raised over £34 million to date. A huge THANK YOU to ASDA Colleagues, Community Champions and Customers for getting behind BBC Children in Need each and every year!Asda’s funding has been instrumental in supporting and making a difference to the lives of children and young people across the UK, and over the past 24 years, we have been able to improve the lives of over 250,000 children and young people.

Last year, BBC Children in Need and Asda partnered to launch Fuelling Potential, a campaign to ensure no child is held back by food insecurity. Over the course of three years, the programme seeks to transform the lives of 100,000 children and young people by boosting overall wellbeing and providing access to nutritious meals. To date, the campaign has raised over £3.1 million and has supported 34,000 children and young people all around the UK, across 210 holiday and playschemes.

ASDA are supporting BBC Children In Need in so many ways!

Asda Community Champion Joanne Mottershead, from the Ashton-under-Lyne store, recently visited Ashton Youth Project to see how funding makes a difference to local youngsters. Ashton Youth Project receives funding from BBC Children in Need to provide a youth club for children and young people living locally. Attending the project enables the children to develop new skills, improve their confidence and self esteem and improve their physical health and wellbeing. They’re able to take part in fun activities, make new friends and enjoy food and healthy snacks.

We know this year will be particularly tough for families facing increased costs over the Summer holiday period, so we’re delighted to partner with BBC Children in Need to provide meals and activities over the holidays. In addition low-cost meals will be available in Asda cafés throughout the summer, with a family of four being able to access a hot, nutritious meal for as little as £8.50
