Competition Privacy Notice
In respect of your use of Instagram and your personal data processed there Meta Platforms Ireland Limited is the Data Controller. Please see Meta’s Data Policy for more information. Where you enter the competition, BBC Children in Need is the Data Controller in respect of the information you provide to us for the purposes of the competition and we are responsible for how your data is processed in that respect.
Your data (@instagram handle, full name on Instagram, the photo you use to enter and, if you win, your email address) will be collected by us and used for our legitimate interests of running the competition and fulfilling the prize if you win. DFS and their suppliers will provide the prize and prize fulfilment services and will also process your data if you win. We will keep your information for 6 months after the competition has closed. To show that the competition was run properly, if you win, we will make your surname and county available to anyone who writes to us to ask who won.
Also, in line with the Instagram Terms of Use:
- we and DFS may repost the photo you used for your entry on our Instagram stories;
- if you win, we and DFS may repost the photo you used for your entry and tag you in it; and
- if you win, we may contact you by Instagram Direct Message to get your email address and then share it with DFS for them to arrange to fulfil the prize for you – so please look out for this.

Competition T&C
By entering the competition you are deemed to accept these T&C
- This competition is only open to residents of the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man who are 18 years old or over at the date of entry. There is no limit on the number of entries per person. No purchase or donation is necessary.
- The competition is not open to employees (or members of their immediate families) of BBC Children in Need, the DFS or The Sofa Delivery Company or any other person professionally connected with this promotion.
- The competition opens at 12pm on 22nd July 2022 and closes at 4pm on 24th Entries received after this time will not entered in to the competition.
- To enter the competition you must do all of the following before the closing time:
- pose and take your photo with or on the BBC Children in Need DFS Sofa at CarFest;
- upload your photo to Instagram with the hashtag #PudseyspotDFS; and
- follow and tag @bbccin & @dfs in the photo.
You must follow Instagram’s rules and please do not incorrectly tag any people in your photo.
- The prize is a £250 voucher to use at DFS online only. The voucher must be used in one transaction. Any outstanding balance will be lost. Prize vouchers are not redeemable in store. Prize voucher must be redeemed within 90 days of notification.
- One winner will be chosen within 14 days of the closing date from all eligible entries. The winner will be chosen by a panel consisting of a member of BBC Children in Need, DFS and an independent third party. The photos will be judged on the following criteria: originality, creativity, public appeal, suitability for a children’s charity. Entries which we deem to be offensive or inappropriate will not be eligible for the competition.
- The winner will be promptly notified by direct message on Instagram. The winner will also be posted and tagged on @bbccin’s and @dfs’ Insta stories.
- The winner must respond and provide their contact details within 14 days of being notified that they are a winner. We will then share the winner’s contact details with DFS who will get in touch with the winner to explain how the prize can be redeemed. If a winner cannot be contacted following reasonable efforts within the 14 day period, that winner will lose their entitlement to their prize.
- BBC Children in Need may select an alternative winner or award a prize to another entrant if: (i) after reasonable attempt (being a maximum of 14 days), the winner cannot be contacted or does not provide their contact details required to fulfil the prize; (ii) the winner confirms to BBC Children in Need that they do not wish to take up the prize; or (iii) BBC Children in Need reasonably believes the winner has breached these T&C or has been fraudulent.
- All decisions of BBC Children in Need are final and no correspondence will be entered into. BBC Children in Need will not be responsible for any entries that are not received by it for any reason, by the closing date, whether lost, delayed, corrupted or otherwise, and whether or not due to any technical difficulties or malfunctions.
- The prize will be made available to the winner within 28 days of receipt of the winner’s delivery details. The prize is not transferable. No part of the prize is exchangeable for cash or any other prize.
- Details of the winner can be obtained after 30 August 2022 by writing to BBC Children in Need at the address stated in section 10 below.
- This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram. You release Instagram from any liability whatsoever in connection with this competition.
