Rosie Millard OBE, Chair of BBC Children in Need steps down

After six years of dedicated leadership, Rosie Millard OBE has stepped down as Chair of BBC Children in Need.

With six appeals delivered and over £257M raised, Rosie leaves an enduring legacy. Under her guidance, the charity embraced a new charitable ambition and a bold five-year strategy to directly address the increasingly diverse challenges facing children and young people across the UK, to help them to thrive and be the best they can be.

Rosie’s leadership was critical during the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis. The charity delivered the groundbreaking TV event, The Big Night In, in partnership with the BBC and Comic Relief, raising vital funds to provide emergency support for the most vulnerable young people impacted by the pandemic.

Tim Davie, Director General, BBC said:

“On behalf of everyone at the BBC and Children in Need, I want to express our gratitude to Rosie for her leadership over the past six years. She has had a significant impact on countless children and young people and we wish her all the best for the future.”

Rosie Millard OBE said:

“It has been an honour and a privilege to serve as Chair of BBC Children in Need. Witnessing the incredible impact of our supporters’ generosity on the lives of children and young people has been truly inspiring. I’m immensely proud of the collective achievements we’ve made together.”

BBC Children in Need will now commence the search for a new Chair.

About BBC Children in Need

BBC Children in Need believes that every child should have the chance to thrive and be the best they can be. For this to happen, we want every child to have someone they can turn to for help or support to overcome challenges they face.

We make sure there’s someone able to give food, clothes and beds to a child living without; someone qualified to talk a child who is anxious, isolated or grieving; someone trained to mentor teenagers in communities facing inequality, violence or lack of opportunity; someone to be there for children living with serious illness, disability or carrying a load that’s just too heavy to manage alone.

BBC Children in Need supports children in the communities where you live. We fund amazing people in family centres, community spaces, youth clubs and refuges; homeless shelters, hospices and helplines. In England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Only with your support can we continue to be there for hundreds of thousands of children when they need us most. Only with your support can we change their lives.
